Livingston Schools

JBTU holds an annual fund raiser every January for the Livingston Schools Stream Initiative. We have great community support and attendees are treated to great student presentations. We appreciate the coordination assistance from Todd Wester and hope to continue this annual project with the LPS. The fund for the program will support the work listed below:
In 2009-2010, students:
· Established baseline data for water quality, quantity, and stream location for Fleshman Creek at the Voyich reach and the town reach.
· Reported results and made recommendations.
· Conducted numerous field, lab, and classroom stream studies in grades 2, 4, 7, 10, and Agriculture 3 and 4.
In 2010-2011 goals accomplished: · Purchase and install remote sensing equipment that would allow us to collect ongoing, real-time data on water quality parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, flow, temperature, and conductivity. Units start at around $2500.00.
· Replenish reagents in sampling kits. These costs are ongoing, and reagent-based “hands-on” sampling provides quick results streamside.
· Purchase additional probe ware for use with Lab Quest and other units we acquired.
· Send more faculty members to Wyoming Stream Team and Project WET workshops.
