Mill Creek

Listed as one of the top five dewatered streams in Montana, Mill Creek is also an important spawning area for Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout

JBTU joined the Mill Creek Subcomittee of the Upper Yellowstone Watershed District in 2007.

Our work is focused on monitoring the flows of Mill Creek and helping local ranchers and farmers improve irrigation efficiency.

2011
TU and JBTU reach agreement for volunteer participation by landowners to leave water in the stream to maintain minimum of 11 CFS. Those who participate will be reimbursed for any crop income loss due to leaving irrigation water in Mill Creek.
An Embrace a Stream Grant from TU is supporting this effort.

2008
we received a MTU mini-grant and funding assistance from the Madison-Gallatin Chapter to support the monitoring of flows and work of the subcommittee.
